The RDXL6SD-USB is a six-channel touch screen data logger that accepts four thermocouple and two RTD inputs. Each channel has individually configurable HI/LO alarms. The intuitive touch screen interface allows each channel to be configured separately for input type, math, alarm, and display options. All six channels can be displayed and logged simultaneously or individually. Data can be logged as fast as once a second and is stored on the included 4 GB SD card in Excel compatible format.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent We bought a couple of these, they do a good job of logging data. The graph is not super usable at least in firmware version 1.01. When the temperature is set to Fahrenheit it the graph displays it as 32° lower than it actually is. The graph also really needs a zoom feature that can be either dynamic or user controlled. Right now you can change how many seconds per graph pixel but if you change it it erases everything already on the graph. You can kind of scroll through the graph but this is rather buggy. It would also be great if we could put it into a mode where it logs voltage and resistance directly. Looking at the literature I was under the impression that the RTD would only work for PT100 sensors but in the settings it can be configured for PR200 500 and 1000 as well which I wish I had realized before ordering my sensors. It logs directly onto an included full sized SD card as a CSV file which is well formatted for excel to understand along with timestamps. If you pull the SD card while logging and then re-insert it it will continue logging but will not fill in any data points from the time the card was out. It would be nice if the SD card had a cover over it to prevent you from accidentally popping the card out. The SD card cannot be read from USB, instead a USB serial bridge get's installed that has a few mod-bus instructions allowing you to poll the device for data (including the raw voltage and resistance values) you cannot access any logged values you can only get values in real time. If you plug in or unplug the power the unit continuities working without missing a beat (unlike the HH306A and it's ilk that irrevocably erases all data every time you look at the power connector even though it has a battery and can operate under battery) It comes with a kickstand that feels like it will break soon. I wish it had a tripod mount instead.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great for what it is This is a handy little tool for recording TC's in spots where you don't have any power, just make sure you have fresh batteries in it. Although it has 6 inputs you can only use TC's in 4 of them. You have to have a SD card reader to extract the data as you can't read the logged over a USB cord form the device. The csv file is great for importing into excel and graphing.

I am attempting to measure temperature from all six channels (four k type thermocouples, two p100) and for some reason when I press "Start Logging" the device freezes then restarts. Any reason why this might be happening? It is plugged in.

Asked by: JHuang
This should not be happening per the user's guide and if it persists contact the Temperature group at temp@omega.com or call the main phone number and connect to Temperature.

Does this unit come with a certificate of calibration?

Asked by: chillndan
Thank you for your question. If you require a calibration cert than you would have to order RDXL6SD-USB-CAL-3. https://www.omega.com/en-us/temperature-measurement/temperature-and-humidity-data-loggers/rdxl6sd-usb-series/p/RDXL6SD-USB-CAL-3

For my application, I plan to connect the data logger to my laptop and let it sit for days to collect the data. If the laptop goes to sleep, does the software on the computer and data loggers keep logging the data?

Asked by: jacob88
No, the software will not keep logging if Windows goes to sleep. From the information I can find the PC’s CPU does not run during sleep. However, the RDXL6SD-USB is designed as a standalone data logger. We suggest instead to disconnect the RDXL6SD-USB from the PC, connect the mains power adapter (so the battery does not run out), and log data to the SD card, then transfer the data to the PC afterwards for analysis.

What is the file naming convention? It seems to create a folder w/the create data as the folder name, but inside is a .csv file that looks like DA-XX-YY where XX and YY seem to be random numbers. What is the convention for those file names?
